How to Place Money on Inmate Books Online

The Los Angeles County Sheriff Department has recently set up an electronic system that allows an inmate's loved one to put money on their books via the internet. Previously the only way to put money on an inmate's books was to travel to Downtown Los Angeles to their IRC station to conduct the transaction in person. The new online system is much more convenient especially if the inmate's loved one lives outside of the area.

To put money on the inmate's books you will look up the inmate using the Los Angeles County Inmate Locator system and once the inmate is found you select "Deposit Money." You will need a credit card to process your request.

The inmate can receive anywhere from $20 - $50 in increasing increments of $5. You will be charge a $2.49 processing fee to complete the transaction.
